Rajnish Prasad, MD, FACC
is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He was raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He completed a six year BA/MD program at Lehigh University and the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1994. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 1997. Afterwards, he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 2000. He had extensive training in nuclear cardiology and transesophageal echocardiography during his fellowship. During his residency and cardiology fellowship training he received awards from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of medicine for excellence in teaching.
After completing cardiology, Dr. Prasad pursued additional fellowship training in critical care medicine at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. During this training period he was involved in research of biomarkers of heart transplant rejection. Afterwards, he joined the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He was the Director of the Cardiac Care Units and also a member of the Echocardiography faculty. He was also a member of the Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT) research team. As a faculty member at the University of Maryland, he received an excellence in teaching award from the internal medicine residency program.
Dr. Prasad’s interests include cardiac critical care, noninvasive cardiac imaging including cardiac CT, transesophageal echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. With his critical care background, he has extensive experience taking care of critically ill cardiac patients. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Prasad joined Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C. in August 2005 and is currently on staff at WellStar Cobb, Douglas and Kennestone hospitals. He is married and has two children. He enjoys photography and sports.
